What the A League means to N.Z
I found this the most laughable TV Deal in the History of TV DEALS :_<> :_<>
The A League Deal done with New Zealand Sky Sports for the A League
Was last year $100,000 a Year just increased as of late last year to $200,000 Per season.
Plenty of LOL'S!!
To the current NRL Deal of Approx 20million. a Year. for one team. KABOOM
Classic!

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
If soccer can get only $100,000 when they started in NZ for a tv deal. AFL would be lucky to get half that over there lol..
I have watched a few A League games here and there. But when your used to watching the EPL back in the UK. The A league looks pretty amatuer.
I remember watching Machester United played the best of the A league all stars back in 2013.
Manchester United beat the best of the entire A league competion put together 5 -1.
That is how much better the EPL is than the A league.

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
I have a feeling the VFL pay NZ broadcasters to televise it ova there
they don't get a cent
& in fact it costs them to have fumblers derping & missing on Kiwi TV's
but lets get back to sooker
hows this for a fact
the FFA get 20 Million a year from Australian broadcasters to televise sooker in Australia
the NRL get 20 Million a year from NZ Broadcasters to televise the NRL in NZ

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
yes because the Man U game is a benchmark, if we use that measure it appears New Zealand Rugby League competition (what ever it is called) is better than the NRL, or when the super league premiers beats the nrl premiers. How embarrassing, the NRL isn't the best rugby league competition under your definition.AFLsforPussies wrote:If soccer can get only $100,000 when they started in NZ for a tv deal. See that is a problem, we know the HAL isn't the best, 3 Leagues have claims on that, yet only one can really be it.
Every other league is a feeder league to those 3. We know it, we are fine with it, just like Belgium are fine, the Dutch are fine and the MLS are fine.
The funny bit is under your definition the NRL isn't the best League in the world anymore, how sad for you lot.

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
Soccer is cheap as cheps as they say im NZ
That would have to be the cheapest broadcast deal I have heard of for a sporting code.
At least Rugby League is getting more popular NZ. Some great Kiwi players in the NRL this year:)

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
If the Kiws are better than Australia at Rugby League on occasions good luck to them.
Is only healthy for the code having a good rivalry. Would be boring if Australia only won every time.

Re: What the A League means to N.Z
I doubt the A League transmits all it's games to New Zealand because of the time difference. That would have pushed the down button on the price.
Also remember this - there isn't as much advertising money in NZ because of the lower population base. On a ratio basis to compare it to the AFL and NRL TV rights deals it rises to about $511,000. Yes it's still a long way behind, but it's a more realistic comparison.
