National Rugby League is not National

Post by post_hoc »

How can it be called a National competition when they don't have teams in Three States?

Is it false advertising?, Why can't the NRL generate a team from WA, SA? At elast the HAL, AFL, BBL, NBL have teams in every state or nearly every state.

16 teams and none in SA or WA, ye they try to call themselves National, LOL
Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

Isn't the competition called the National Rugby League? I understand the ARL as it is the governing body, just like the FFA. but the NRL is the competition I thought?

You have to earn your spot to get into the NRL, what have WA and SA done to earn their spot over places like Qld, PNG, NZ, Central Coast and others? I know when Perth had their first shot in the ARL, they ended up stabbing the code in the back before their first ever first grade game in the top comp, how's that for earning your spot?

SA was only ever used by Mr Murdoch as a last resort to get his Super League up and running after Saint George stayed with the ARL, that left Parramatta as the only club left not aligned to any comp. Murdoch needed one more team to kick off and Parra said att they would give the ARL one season and the rest is history.

South Aus I don't think will ever recover from Murdochs putting in a team and ripping it away. They had some bloody good crowds for such a garbage team they put on the park. Near 30k at Adelaide oval and a few other decent crowds, they showed massive potential that I never knew existed att only for them to be told half way through their second year they were to be folded, it's a wonder they managed to average 7k after that.

WA will have a team very soon, lets hope they don't stab the game in the back again.

The ARLC is the governing body now
But this only came to be since 2013
from 1998 to 2012
It was an equal partnership between news ltd & the ARL that ran RL in Australia
Called
The NRL
