the Cronulla sharks could play a marbles tournment amongst themselves & it would rate higher then that on STV

So the Sydney battle of the fumble didn't make the Fox cut. We know it was under 52k. And it didn't make the 7 FTA cut either the number was so low. The game in Sydney seems to be going swimmingly lololololololol!!

There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.
Rugby league, Australias most popular game in some of North Eastern Australia.

That was a pretty poor crowd yesterday at the Swans GWS game.
I just don't think footy will ever take off there as Rugby League is just too popular & to be honest the city is just not into sports like football states are.

Re: The state of the vicderpian game in Sydney
Relatively close to the mark Petey boy. The actual crowd was about 32k so pretty good for Sydney. The TV ratings were abysmal though which is the real test.
Plus Sydney folk have woken up to the fumbling games BS and propaganda and no longer take any notice of it. And of course RL is a much better spectacle than the fumbling, bumbling and stumbling of AFL.
I'd say fumbling is about as strong as it will get in good 'ol Sydney town. The Swans have some traction when they're winning but if they have a run of poor seasons they'll all but disappear from Sydney's sporting psyche. And they may as well close down the western mob. They've never had a following and never will.

Yeah I agree.
I think Sydney is a lost cause to footy. Even if Dusty goes there I doubt that it will get much more popular.

Re: The state of the vicderpian game in Sydney
Yep. The Swans have a long record of getting a gun marquee player on their books. They had Tony Lockett, Barry Hall and now Buddy Franklin. On that record they should be a good chance to get Martin.
And they need to get him. Franklin is the only player who gets any media exposure in Sydney. The average Sydneysider wouldn't know one single players name outside of Franklin.
If Buddy goes and they don't get Martin their stocks will drop even lower.

I think Dusty may go to Lions or Suns.
