All AFL games this weekend will pay tribute to domestic violence victims around Australia. This follows a spike in DV incidents this year.
And in other exciting news the AFL will soon induct Wayne Carey into their hall of fame. This is the bloke who has disgraced himself and his game with repeated domestic violence offences over a long period of time. Some people call this hypocrisy. The AFL calls this .........ummmm..............yeah..........well..........lost for words actually!!!!!!! Can someone get a quote from The Big Dill on this one??
This 'sport' has also dished up male role models Ricky Nixon, Ben Cousins and Gary Ablett snr. The latter of course left a young lady unconscious in a motel room after a drug binge. The young lady subsequently died.
And who can forget the St Kilda players who procured underage girls 'for a bit of fun' after a school visit. Just young blokes having fun anyone???
Absolute pillars of society this lot. Maybe the AFL should just pull its sanctimonious head in and educate its player rather than pontificate to the broader community. Or does brand protection and positive media trump moral decency? I think I know the answer to that.
