What was their overall average home attendance?
Take away pokies and, like a few other NRL clubs, they would be stuffed.
However they did have a very good first year.
26K or something , but they were forced off Suncorp for a while due to the womens soccer so its irrelevant, the 12th placed Dolphins would have surpassed the GF appearing Lions
why would we take away pokies ?.. are they illegal or something ?
afl clubs have them afterall https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... ncial-year
It is Rugby League heartland let's not forget - I would suspect a new NRL club would do extremely well - particularly the Dolphins who bring a considerable history to their club. I think the Lion's average is extremely good considering Brisbane is RL through and through - you can't deny they have a considerable and strong base of supporters who actively follow them, I would say more so, than say the Storm havbe in Melbourne. But Storm are doing okay too. Are Lions as big as the Dolphins - maybe not - but it is hard to say given the Dolphins have just entered - but possibly they are - they should be. Are the Lions embedded in Brisbane - definitely - and in a big way. So a win win I think. Maybe the Lions and Dolphins should work together - imagine having a joint membership between the two? I'd like to see the suns and titans do this - think it would be a win win - schedule games so you can go to both. I think the days of the code wars has long since faded and this site - forum remains a lasting relic to days gone by.
the afl are always making provocative ridiculous statements that inflame the situation , they just aren't as direct as PVL is but
they're the first along with their pissy pants fans to complain when ol PVL has a dig tho , can dish it out

I think V’landys has ramped it up a bit.
you wanna state you're gunna steal our house when we're in Vegas ... of course hes going to
then not actually be able to do it , steal anything
well thats gunna get mentioned
By your rationale, that was not a statement by the afl, but an official of a club of the afl, which is not the AFL.
Lions second most supported team in Brisbane, great achievement in RL heartland.
Dolphins will struggle on and off the field.
They are not a shiny new thing anymore , so passe
Struggle? They got a great home crowds considering it's at a suburban ground on the weekend knocking St George out of the water. They are still the newest expansion club in both codes playing.
The NRL now have twice the teams as AFL in QLd with a 5th team possible.

currently leading the NRL with another strong come from behind win over the Titans last night , might not be 1st after the round is complete but will be in the top 4 at worst heading into round 5 , with the Tigers at Suncorp next Sat night & the battle of Brisbane the following week. The town is buzzing NRL atm

cowboys v Broncos was always massive in QLD
but the dolphins v Broncos is shaping in years to come to be even BIGGER
Yeah ok… nevermind the Titans promos for the “derby day”
Crowd - 13,898
again for our slow witted fumbler
the NRL QLD derby was on Friday night & it rendered the fumbles & bumbles GF rematch irrelevant for any Qlder who wasn't a blow in from the south , hardly anyone knew or cared that was on ...
the battle of Brisbane will be bigger again in a few weeks & the only game anyone will be talking about
