About the same as your “Sydney AFL going down the gurgler, and quick” post from a few years back. How is that going for you?
Suns in the finals by at least 2025.

They will play finals this year. Two players were seen as top 10 with Walter’s ? Possibly going 2nd if not for an apparent deal with North.

Plenty of qld locals running around in the 1s in the afl.

Too late for this year, maybe next, I think 2025, but I do not mind being wrong….this time.

one hyped up ... heavily padded crowd with Victorian visitors will not save the suns from being beaten ... again .. by the Titans in all metrics in 2024

I think there were plenty of Souths supporters at the Titans too - judging by the cheering when South's scored and shots of the crowd (Youtube has it up to watch if you want to have a look).

Both clubs generally have a lot of opposition supporters - I was quite impressed with the atmosphere and crowd at the Suns' game on the weekend - felt more like I was at a game in Victoria where equal amounts of support for both teams- hasn't happened often for the Suns and certainly not against a club like Richmond.

If the suns keep winning I'd take the bet on the Suns getting bigger numbers than the Titans. Usually is pretty close and last time I bet a poster on here I won with the Suns getting the bigger crowd at their respective home grounds on the Gold Coast.

I believe they are on a rise which will make them finals participants for several years.
Maybe this year, certainly next.
If the AFL does not change the academy drafting system, and they shouldn't, this years draft looks good, next years is fantastic and 2026 is looking even better.
Fan base will increase not just because of the influx of local players, but because a generation as now just about grown up with them.

Yes, certainly a few local players coming through the academy which helps. Kids go to school with them, and parents know them which cannot hurt any. Plus the go home factor is taken away. I think three of the draftees all went to Palm Beach Currumbin last year which is a good AFL breading ground - Helensvale is as well and the two often play off in the statewide school comp.

Very true - it's always "this year" and "plenty of promise" - so yes, we will have to wait and see. Looking good so far - 1 game in lol but have beaten Richmond last three years at home. The problem is the Suns lose the ones they are supposed to win far too often.

I predict the Suns to get more at People's Stadium this year at their games then the Titans get at their games at CBUS.

Great start for the Sun's and I agree that the attendance figures will only increase drawing a lot more local support.
Sun's are much loved by local business owners as their home games fill restaurants, cafes, hotels motels and any other assortment of tourism ventures.
I hope they can string quite a few wins in a row and build up some momentum and engage more local fans fir support and to sign on.

Not this time…no go home factor….maybe not finals this year, but next.
Build them and they will come.
