neither aussie rules or rugby league will ever become big sports overseas. the fact is, no one abroad has a clue who the collingood seaguls are or the parramatta bulldogs are and you need to get used to it. both your sports are backwater as far as the rest of the planet is concerned

soccer will forever be king in this department i'm afraid, no silly rugby league world cup between 2 actual countries + a bunch of pacific islands is ever going to change that

afl might have its token value as its completely different to anything else out there but rugby league is basically a less skillful watered down version of rugby which in itself isnt a very popular sport anyway

Well they know even less about any soccer team in Australia.
Chances are if you mention Sydney football club they will say "Sydney Swans".
Even though Collingwood is big in Australia Essendon and carlton are better known overseas.

Some British people know about Aussie clubs that play their rugby games.
