Test during night outrate tests during day. The highest rating tennis finals have been night games
He has lost his argument so now crapper is slowly attempting to shift the goal posts
How many test have there bean of a night?

Australia v Bangladesh of a night would not outrate the ashes regardless
of wether it was shown during the working week.

And we keep coming back to this same old argument that you Nevilles refuse to accept. A prime time add is worth more than a Saturday arvo add.

Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m

Nope it's an assumption
Given that everything else, live sport, tv shows & news programs all rate better in prime time than non prime time! Especially on a Sunday night where it has been the traditional prime time

To networks charge more advertising

It's easy to say the assumptions of an afl gf will rate better being shown at that time
It's easy to say
Doesn't make it true
It's still an assumption .

You dont know so its not "absolute" anything.
Lol your bias is showing

I argue one side
It's an assumption or I don't know
Yet the fumblers can state what they like ...no problem .
its a fact. The grand fnal has not been held at night ever. You dont know what impact it may have. We do know however that prime time is called as such because networks expect more people to watch and for the reach figures to be higher - this is why Seven is pushing it. Seven can charge whatever they like during the Grand Final for ads - they can charge more if they expect more to be watching.

Its also worth noting that despite this the AFL Grand Final regularly manages to charge more for advertising on 7 than 9 does for the NRL.
references at - http://www.footyindustry.com/?page_id=2682

Now, your argument is predicated on the assumption that everyone who wants to watch the grand final can watch the grand final on a saturday afternoon - employment and other circumstances be damned - and assumes that despite the history of television suggesting otherwise, more people wouldnt be available to watch in the prime viewing hours.
I have never said
That there are not more people available to watch in prime time
So thats bullshit ......stick to what I've been arguing .. :)))
My argument is that there are also far better quality/popular/high rating shows shown at that time also
So more people available to watch doesn't mean that they'd automatically be watching the GF.
& that is the assumption of the fumblers on here .
If there's a far greater selection then it gives the viewers a choice of shows .( & they do watch these Reno/lifestyle bullshit shows in great numbers).
Until you or anyone else can show that the casual viewer would watch the GF before other shows
Then it's an assumption .it ain't fact .

As has been said
ADD slots are much higher in prime time
Especially for an event that is assured of a big audience
That's why networks want a nighttime GF...
Not because the ratings will suddenly spike .
They already have a guaranteed audience of 3-4 million .
Given the AFL has never had a night grand final this is nothing more than an assumption without evidence.
Your words of advice to me

You obviously don't know what an hypothesis is I feel.

More people to watch ... of those extra people some will watch the gf. Especially as it is a marquee event. There's your extra numbers.

I know exactly what it is
So fuck off with your high & mighty attitude

As for your post .
Yes that's possible
That is one positive
But as usual you ignore the other side

Of those people who would watch during the day
How many of them at night would switch to another top rating show that they like because it's not a. Crappy Elvis rerun or similar .
You would definitely gain some viewers
You would also lose some .

if the AFL moved to Saturday 7pm what other popular program do you think would take viewers away from the AFL?

A one sided AFL final between a medium Melbourne club and an expansion team rated:
STV #AFLCatsSwans National 394k: Metro 330k (Syd 63k Mel 143k Bri 26k Ade 47k Per 51k)
FTA #AFLCatsSwans 1.384m: Metro Seven 769k (Mel 576k Ade 192k) 7mate 255k (Syd 88k Bri 35k Per 132k) Regional 360k
TOTAL = 1778k

A close NRL final between 2 heartland cities including their biggest club rated:
FTA #NRLBroncosPanthers National 1.101m: Metro 690k (Syd 310k Bri 346k) Regional 411k
STV #NRLBroncosPanthers National 301k: Metro 202k (Syd 101k Mel 13k Bri 73k Ade 3k Per 12k)
TOTAL = 1402k

Given the circumstances I actually thought last night would be close, but what a massive flogging again. So that's 3 -0 to the AFL

The interesting figure here is Brisbane ... just over 60000 people estimated to be watching. No local team playing and up against the broncos. That's the real mark I think of interest in afl in general in Brisbane. And on the secondary channel on 7 too.

Compare this to Adelaide Perth and most worryingly Melbourne for nrl.

Also goes to show differences in pay tv take up also between Sydney and Melbourne I feel.

in fact on FTA the AFL rated only 1k less in Brisbane than the NRL in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth combine.

Huge ratings for a blow-out... Yet again.

Everyone can't get enough Finals footy it seems.

Sydney Foxtel & Melbourne all figures particularly impressive (the latter metro free-to-air only down 39k on last week).

Yes afl is doing well indeed with the ratings this year. We have seen when shown in isolation the ratings go up substantially. Look at this finals series .. even last... ratings have swamped the nrl games on at the same time.

It seems the much maligned Sydney's NRL ratings aren't the only thing down . According to Wookie's Footy industry site, Melbourne AFL ratings are down yet again. Down 10% after such a good start[-(

Fri TV #NRL #NRLFinals Nine #NRLStormBroncos Metro 730k (Syd 328k Mel 88k Bri 314k)
Fri STV #NRL #FoxLeague #NRLFinals #NRLStormBroncos National 390k: Metro 273k (Syd 116k Mel 46k Bri 102k Ade 2k Per 7k)

Fri STV #AFL #FoxFooty #AFLFinals #AFLCrowsCats National 436k: Metro 361k (Syd 43k Mel 174k Bri 23k Ade 57k Per 65k)
Fri TV #AFL #AFLFinals Seven/7mate #AFLCrowsCats Metro 1,057,000 (Syd 58k Mel 522k Bri 41k Ade 299k Per 137k)

So without Gem and regionals the NRL are 1.12m while the AFL are 1.49m
