Re: 20th AFL Team - Expansion
I am yet to see anywhere or hear anyone (from NYT) stats rl is the major code in Darwin. Happy to be given a link however to read that does. Regardless - I don’t think it is a viable. Canberra - as Aussie rules has a strong presence and room to grow but still - they would need to get gws out of there.

Re: 20th AFL Team - Expansion
Think Perth would be pointless re: another team . Not sure what the benefit would be. They are more prohical than Victorians with their footy - but if the philosophy is to put a team into Aussie Rules heartland then I guess why not - but if the plan is to grow the game Canberra is the obvious choice...

Re: 20th AFL Team - Expansion
You see - all the reasons you mention as to not put a team in Newcastle are the very reasons I think they should. So we at least agree that AFL is not popular and it is a potential growth area - one of a few limited ones available to the AFL at that. There is no way Perth would have a second team - ...

had an all QLD GF in the NRL already , 2015 Broncos V Cowboys was a classic won by Nth Qld a Phins V Broncs GF won't happen in 2024 , both teams just a bit off the pace being set by Penrith , the Sharks .. Melbourne & the Roosters but it will happen one day & when Suncorps capacity is incre...

Re: 20th AFL Team - Expansion
the AFL would rather LOSE 30million a year than pull the Giants.. and why they can afford it they will continue to do so.. Logistically AFL only have a few options of expansion Bunbury / Busselton as 1 team Darwin Canberra All small regional bases. Canberra looks the winner Canberra the obvious - b...

Re: 20th AFL Team - Expansion
Agree that rl has many options for expansion . The pros for AFL I believe is they have a strong presence across the nation whereas rl still lacks any major grassroots presence outside the traditional areas. I think this why the afl targeted western Sydney - as no presence hardly at all - and have fa...

Re: Footy Crowds - 2024
Its not often I defend the fumbling game but I think this attendance is something of an outlier. It was between a Melb team coming last and an Adelaide team under performing. Neither side would have much of a following in little Tassie. Once a Tassie side enters the comp (if it ever does) the local...
